"This is our greatest generation, and I am honored and proud to be a part of this great event, making the flights happen for our vets," said Perkins owner Kevin Stenberg.

Perkins is selling vouchers for pies for $14 each, with $7 going toward paying for the next Honor Flight. Organizers hope the pie drive will raise at least $15,000 by the end of the year.

Usually seen in a suit and tie, U.S. Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., donned a Big Sky Honor Flight T-shirt and black apron Tuesday afternoon as he served coffee and every imaginable flavor of pie to World War II veterans and their supporters.

“I can think of no greater honor and way to show my respect for their service to our country,” Baucus said. “We are not going to rest until each one of our veterans fly to Washington D.C.”
